Patenaude powers Thomas to two wins

WATERVILLE – Natalie Patenaude scored off a scramble in front of the net in the second half to give Thomas College a 1-0 field hockey victory over Lasell. Sunday.

The Terriers shut out Wheelock 4-0 on Saturday.

Jen Lane made six saves for 3-2 Thomas and Linda Williams had three saves for 1-6 Lasell.

In Saturday’s game, four Thomas players got on the board. Molly Tibbetts, Ashley Gibson, Amy Miles and Patenaude each notched a goal for the 2-2 Terriers.

Thomas outshot 0-4 Wheelock 20-4.

UMF 3, Lasell 2

At Farmington on Saturday, the University of Maine-Farmington got first- half goals from Kristy Veazie, Kristen Chambers and Kristen Allen and held on for the North Atlantic Conference victory.

Lasell scored both its goals in the second half, as Katie Bryer and Justine Langdon rallied the visitors from their 3-0 deficit at intermission.

Kaeliegh Barker, making her first collegiate start, made two saves on four shots for 3-1 UMF. Linda Williams stopped six of 12 shots for Lasell.

Rhode Island 3, Maine 2 (OT)

At Kingston, Shaunessy Saucier scored two goals in the overtime loss to the Rams.

Jamie Adams scored her second goal in overtime to lead 5-4 URI. Lauren Hackenberger added the other score. M.J. Britt saved one shot on seven attempts.

Maygan Cassarino made seven saves on 11 shots for 6-5 Maine.

Becker 2, Husson 0

At Worcester, Mass., Sunday, Michelle DeSantis earned her second shutout of the season to lift Becker by Husson 2-0 after the Eagles of Bangor had beaten Elms 4-2 on Saturday.

Jenny Boggess and Mariah Seames each scored for 3-5 Becker. Kelly Bocchino made nine saves on 15 shots for the Braves, now 2-4.

In Saturday’s game, Karoleanne Emery and Shawna Bell each had a goal and an assist in the Husson victory over the Blazers, who fell to 1-6.

Sara McIntire and Tedianne Galuski also added scores for Husson.

Holly Stevens led Elms with a goal and an assist, while Sarah Lapolice also recorded a goal. Colleen Strunk made 11 saves on 15 Husson shots.

Kelly Bocchino faced 10 shots, saving six.

Trinity 1, Colby 0

At Waterville, Teagan Henwood scored in the second half to lift the Bantams to victory. Courtney Bergh made one save on two shots for 3-2 Trinity. Jamie Enos faced 10 shots and made six saves for the Mules, 1-3.

Plymouth State 2, Southern Maine 1

At Plymouth, the Panthers scored two goals in the first five minutes and maintained the lead to defeat USM.

Jenna Lace and Lilly Silva recorded the early goals.

For the 2-5 Huskies, senior Kayla Vaughan scored off a penalty corner in the second half. Sadie Garnache-Poirier saved 13 shots on 22 attempts.

Leah Curtin made five saves on nine shots for the 5-3 hosts.
