Vikes, Bucks tie 2-2 Gahagan’s goal knots up game

BUCKSPORT – Makayla Gahagan’s goal off a penalty kick with 14:17 left in the second half tied the game at 2-2 for the Caribou Vikings, and they played the Bucksport Golden Bucks to a double-overtime tie in high school girls soccer action Tuesday.

Terren Hall scored off a direct kick in the first half for 5-1-3 Bucksport and Lindsey Gordon added a goal with 3:09 left in the half off an assist from Emily Lenor. Katie Hurd made four saves on six shots, including stopping a penalty kick earlier in the second half.

Jessica Kinney scored a first-half goal off an Ali Richards throw-in for 2-6-1 Caribou. Billie Martin made nine saves on 18 shots.

Calais 3, East Grand 0

At Danforth, Kayla Cobb scored two goals and assisted on another, all in the second half, to lead the Devils.

Courtney Hill scored the first goal for the 2-7 Blue Devils and Darcey Gillespie made six saves on six shots.

For 0-8 East Grand, Courtney Lloyd made nine saves on 12 shots.

Schenck 1, Katahdin 0

At East Millinocket, Gabrielle Rioux’s goal with 44 seconds remaining enabled Schenck to edge Katahdin of Stacyville.

Robin Larlee made eight saves on 11 shots for 4-3 Schenck and Kayla Stevens finished with 12 saves on 18 shots for 0-9-1 Katahdin.

Lee 7, PVHS 3

At Howland, Amanda Gifford scored three goals as the Pandas improved to 8-0.

Karin Bird, Brooke Harris, Marci Moors and Aarkia Ritchie each added a goal for the winners and Jackie Moors made five saves on nine shots.

Ashley Dawson scored all three goals for 5-3-1 PVHS and Jenn Plourde made 17 saves on 31 shots.

Orono 4, Penquis 2

At Milo, Lindsay Colbath netted three goals and Lauren Wheeler one, all unassisted as the Red Riots prevailed.

Heather Woodbray had 11 saves against 13 shots for Orono.

Kristen Burch scored both goals for the Patriots, one of which was assisted by Erica Lyford. Johannah Kutz stopped 14 of 18 shots.

Searsport 3, Sumner 1

At East Sullivan, Annette Anderson scored all three goals for the Vikings in the win.

April Pickering had 13 saves on 15 shots for 5-4 Searsport.

Kylie Bragdon scored for the 2-6 Tigers. Whitney Page made 15 saves on 21 shots.

Washington Acad. 5, Shead 0

At East Machias, Samantha Rodriguez scored two goals to lead the Raiders to the win.

Jocelyn Corey had a goal and assist while Mary Mawhinney and Hailey White added a goal apiece for 6-1 WA. Sarah Rushforth had four assists. Megan Look had six saves on 10 shots.

Dorothy Pottle made 13 saves on 20 shots for the 3-4 Tigers of Eastport.

Bangor Christian 3, Central 0

At Bangor, Amber Leathers scored two goals to lead the Patriots by the Red Devils of Corinth.

Christian Pelletier chipped in with a goal and an assist for the 6-1 winners and Suze Vandine and Morgan Chasse each added an assist. Mariah Bach made 11 saves on 11 shots.

For 2-5-1 Central Kimberly LeBlanc made 38 saves on 41 shots.

DI-Stonington 2, Dexter 0

At Deer Isle, Leti Douglass scored a goal with 34:02 to go in the first, and then another with 2:53 left in the second, to lead Deer Isle-Stonington to victory.

Anika Powers had 11 saves on 24 shots for the 2-6-1 Mariners while Ashley Richardson stopped six of 11 shots for 3-6-1 Dexter.

Boys soccer

Presque Isle 4, John Bapst 0

At Bangor, Nate Carter knocked in three goals as the Wildcats improved to 9-0.

Travis Brooker added a goal and Greg Whitaker an assist for Presque Isle. Adam Kingsbury turned back all 12 shots he faced.

Chris Smith had 16 saves on 20 shots for 4-4 John Bapst.

JV: Presque Isle 1-0

Caribou 9, Bucksport 2

At Bucksport, Eamonn Harrigan scored four goals and Chase Gagnon two as the Vikings rolled.

Kyle Corrigan, Kyle Damboise and Caleb Rosser added a goal apiece for 6-3-1 Caribou. Brad Ala had 15 saves on 20 shots.

Teddy Cook scored both goals for 0-8 Bucksport, with Seth McKeen getting an assist. Miles Bisher stopped 15 of 28 shots.

Highview 2, East Grand 1

At Charleston, Zach Frish’s unassisted goal from the top of the 18-yard line 16:20 into the game gave the Highview Christian Knights the winning edge over the Vikings of Danforth.

Stefan Rowe scored 1:44 into the game off a pass from Josh Mountain for the 1-3-2 Knights. Andrew Richard made nine saves on 16 shots.

Adam Beaudoin scored an unassisted second-half goal for 1-6-1 East Grand and Rick Parks made nine saves on 19 shots.

Messalonskee 2, Nokomis 0

At Oakland, David Rossignol and Isaac Breton scored unassisted goals in the first half to lift the Eagles to the win.

Kyle Joseph had three saves on 11 shots for the 3-5 winners.

Wayne May turned back eight out of 24 shots for 1-8 Nokomis of Newport.

Calais 5, Jonesport-Beals 1

At Calais, Corey Johnson scored three goals, two of which came in the first half as the Blue Devils rolled to the win.

Adam Knowles and Jacob Ludington added a goal apiece for Calais, now 6-2 on the season. Scott Geel had 13 saves on 16 shots.

Sean Milliken scored the lone goal for the 1-7 Royals. Ben Ellis stopped eight of 44 shots.

Dexter 4, Foxcroft 1

At Dover-Foxcroft, Ricky Stewart scored two goals as the Tigers prevailed.

Ethan Woodman and Dan Beatham added a goal apiece while Aaron Woodman, Adam Eastman and Tyler Sawyer added assists for 7-1-1 Dexter. Chris Eastman had four saves on six shots.

Albert Kim scored for the 0-6 Ponies. Chris Aleretaskis and Evan Bridges combined for 16 saves on 30 shots.

Field hockey

John Bapst 2, Foxcroft 0

At Dover-Foxcroft, Marci Scofield scored a first-half goal and Ahsley Freeman added another in the second half as the Crusaders of Bangor improved to 8-1.

Meagan Tilton set up the first goal and Natasha Duff assisted on the second for the 8-1 winners. Hillary Laferriere didn’t have to make a save.

For 6-3 Foxcroft, Morgan Rice made 10 saves on 12 shots.

JV: 0-0

Central 1, Hampden Acad. 0

At Corinth, Hilary Haney scored an unassisted goal two minutes into the game, accounting for the only goal of the contest.

Kara Voisine made 11 saves on 12 shots for 8-1 Central.

Katie Hessert came up with 22 saves on 23 shots for 7-2 Hampden Academy.
