Kaleb is a kind, sweet 9-year-old boy who is ready for a family. Kaleb is very aware of the feelings of others. He has a big heart and “wants to be a happy boy.”
He is a social youngster who is eager to please those around him. He likes to help out with house chores. Kaleb enjoys a variety of activities, including reading, playing sports and going to his friends’ houses.
Kaleb is doing very well in school. He is in special education services, but has made great gains in his behavior at school. Kaleb is very proud of this accomplishment. His favorite subject in school is science, and he especially enjoys creating projects. In addition to science, Kaleb enjoys lunchtime, as it is a time for him to socialize with his friends.
Kaleb’s favorite book is “Stuart Little.” He also enjoys “The Apple Picking Party” series of books for children.
Kaleb enjoys creative play, and he has a great imagination. Kaleb also enjoys going shopping for toys, going to the movies, and watching TV.
When he grows up, Kaleb would like to be a carpenter.
Since he’s been in the care of the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, Kaleb has been learning to trust in the care of adults. Kaleb is able to discuss his poor choices when they occur and talk about what he could do differently next time. He is able to accept responsibility for his actions.
Kaleb does best in an environment where he feels comfortable, safe, and cared about. The ideal family for Kaleb would be a one or two parent family that will take time to talk with him and interact with him in a positive way.
Kaleb has contact with two brothers, and it is important that this continue after he has been matched with an adoptive family.
Kaleb is one of 187 children currently in Maine Department of Health and Human Services care who is seeking an adoptive family.
Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with Maine DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care.
