PORTLAND – A federal jury on Friday found Kittery attorney Gary Reiner guilty on all counts in his prostitution and money-laundering trial.

Reiner was accused of operating a brothel and conspiring to launder millions of dollars in profits it generated. The jury handed down its guilty verdict in U.S. District Court in Portland.

No sentencing date has been set, but Reiner faces up to 20 years and fines of up to $250,000. Reiner, 54, is a former chairman of the Kittery Town Council who was described by friends and colleagues as a respected lawyer and a family man.

Prosecutors alleged that Reiner ran a massage parlor called the Danish Health Club, where women were brought in from out of state to work as prostitutes.

Reiner was accused of negotiating with pimps, writing ads for an adult entertainment guide, and even working the front desk.

The charges against Reiner included conspiracy, violation of the Travel Act, inducing travel to engage in prostitution, and conspiracy to launder money.

Four others charged in the case have pleaded guilty. Two co-defendants testified that Reiner made key business decisions for the Danish Health Club after its manager died in 2001.

FBI and Internal Revenue Service agents raided the club in June 2004, according to testimony in the case. A customer who testified earlier this week was wearing only a towel when approached by agents.
