Belfast rolls to 10th win

ROCKLAND – Brooke Reed scored two goals and notched an assist as the Belfast Lions beat the Rockland Tigers 5-0 in high school field hockey action Saturday and improved to 10-0.

Jamie Flagg had two goals and Kelsey Jackson added a goal and an assist for the Lions. Liz Anderson saved all four shots in the net.

Dana Clark made nine saves on 14 shots for the 4-5-1 Tigers.

Hampden 3, Foxcroft 0

At Hampden, Tini Lumino scored two goals to help improve the Broncos record to 8-2.

Darci Greenacre also added a goal, while Sarah Hessert gained the assist. Katie Hessert picked up the shutout, saving all seven shots.

Morgan Rice made six of nine saves for the 8-3 Ponies.

JV: Hampden 3-0

Dexter 1, PCHS 1 (2OT)

At Guilford, the Pirates and Tigers battled in two overtimes, leaving the field in a scoreless tie.

Emily Drew scored in the first half from a Vanessa Hartford pass, putting the Tigers up 1-0.

Heather Tracy responded in the next period, knocking in a score off a Kellie Martel assist. Jessica Pratt saves one of three shots for 7-3-1 PCHS.

Katie Poirier stopped 14 of 17 shots for Dexter, now 8-2-1.

JV: Dexter 3-0

Stearns 4, Brewer 0

At Brewer, Amy Collinsworth scored two goals and assisted another to lead Stearns of Millinocket to the win.

Jamie Johnson had a goal and an assist for 7-2 Stearns and Adriana Eurich added a goal. Deanna Michaud stopped the only shot.

Zora Merrill made five saves on 13 shots for 2-8-1 Brewer.

Camden Hills 6, Oak Hill 0

At Rockport, Marianne Croce scored three goals to push Camden Hills to the win.

Laura Schelble scored two goals for 5-5 Camden Hills and Melly Ford added a goal. Georgia Smith and Kate Fetterman both had two assists. Dale Winsper stopped both shots.

Frankie Curtis and Brittany Wood combined to make 20 saves on 26 shots for 1-8-1 Oak Hill of Sabattus.

Football

Morse 22, MDI 14

At Bar Harbor, Darrus Grate rushed 33 times for 239 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead Morse of Bath to its first win.

Morse totaled 301 yards on 58 plays.

Tyler Crawford threw an 86-yard touchdown pass to Alex Keene in fourth quarter for Mount Desert Island. Keene scored a second touchdown on a 70-yard kick off return.

MDI totaled 216 yards on 47 plays.

Jeremiah Cousins had 19 tackles for MDI and Andrew Leiser added 12 tackles.

At Belfast, Tyler Angel completed 6 of 11 passes for 87 yards, while rushing 93 yards on 23 carries to spark Leavitt.

Angel also ran the ball in for two touchdowns. Chris Brewer totaled 74 yards, while rushing for one touchdown in the fourth quarter.

For the Lions, quarterback Andy Whalen threw for 110 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown pass to Travis Lee in the fourth quarter. Lee finished with five receptions for 98 yards.

Linebacker John Walsh recorded 16 tackles and one interception for the Lions, while Lee recovered a fumble and notched 15 tackles.

At Houlton, Corey Johnston scored the game’s only goal midway through the first half on a Jacob Ludington assist.

Scott Geel saved all nine shots for the shutout as his Blue Devils improved to 8-2.

Eben Thompson made four saves on five shots for the 1-8-1 Houlton Shiretowners.

Ellsworth 2, Caribou 1

At Caribou, Demetrios Katsiaficas ended a tied halftime score as he posted a goal with 22:32 left in the game for the 5-3 Eagles.

Chris Leighton tied the game in the first half, from a Matt Homich assist.

Jesse Stephens put the 6-4-1 Vikings up early on an unassisted score. Brad Ala made four saves on eight shots.

Corey Smith stopped seven of 16 shots for Ellsworth.

Shead 5, East Grand 2

At Eastport, the Tigers overcame a 2-1 halftime deficit by scoring four goals in the second half to gain the win.

Cody Bulmer, A.J. Sealy, Mike Cummings, Justin Lewey and Craig Hastings each scored for 4-5-1 Shead.

Harry Brittain and Tyler Langhill notched unassisted scores to give the 1-8-1 Vikings the early lead. Rick Parks made 20 saves on 25 shots.

Brandon LaPlante stopped 12 of 15 shots for Shead.

Greenville 6, Vinalhaven 2

At Vinalhaven, Jonah Lizotte scored four goals to lead Greenville to victory.

Durgin McKusick scored two goals and had an assist for 8-0 Greenville. Brandon Lavigne made seven saves on 12 shots.

Sam Rosen scored both goals for 4-5 Vinalhaven. Thomas Sammo stopped five of 24 shots.

Narraguagus 2, Calvary Chapel 1

At Harrington, Gustavo Ortiz and Todd Pagelf each scored first-half goals to lead the Knights to victory.

Rosaire Veillieux attempted to bring the 3-5 Sabers back with a score in the second half. Tim Arbo made seven saves on 10 shots.

Kyle Tenan stopped five of eight shots for 2-7 Narraguagus.

John Bapst 5, Bucksport 0

At Bangor, Nick Hubbard scored two goals to lead John Bapst past Bucksport.

Dylan Connolle, Jon Gagnon, and Sam Rioux each scored a goal for 5-5 John Bapst. Jordan Meyers had two assists and Chris Smith stopped all three shots.

John Rivers made 15 saves on 21 shots for 1-9 Bucksport.

Ellsworth 3, Caribou 0

At Caribou, Casey Wyman scored a goal and assisted another to lift Ellsworth to the win.

Maggie Harding and Ashley Cloak both scored a goal for 7-2-1 Ellsworth. Catie Cravens made seven saves on eight shots.

Billie Martin stopped 13 of 20 shots for 2-7-1 Caribou.

Calais 1, Houlton 0

At Houlton, Macey Gillespie scored the winning goal on a Krista Morrison assist with 23:40 left to lead Calais past Houlton.

Stephanie Perry stopped all 18 shots for 3-7 Calais.

Bethany Targonski made five saves on six shots for the 3-8 Shiretowners.

Shead 3, East Grand 0

At Eastport, Patricia Candelmo scored two goals and added one assist to lead the 4-4-1 Tigers.

Laureta Ricker added the other goal, and tallied an assist. Dorothy Pottle earned the shutout, saving three shots.

Courtney Lloyd made 24 saves on 33 shots for the 0-9 Vikings.

Fort Kent 7, Sumner 0

At Fort Kent, Marissa Albert and Brittany Theriault both scored two goals to push Fort Kent to the win.

Courtney Minzy scored a goal and assisted on two others for 8-3 Fort Kent. Lindsay Cyr and Allie Madore each added a goal. Kelsie Bouchard stopped five shots.

Whitney Page made 39 saves on 46 shots for 2-7 Sumner of East Sullivan.

Narraguagus 7, Calvary Chapel 2

At Harrington, Haley Torrey notched four goals to help beat the Sabers of Orrington.

Katie Cirone added two goals for the Knights, and Sheila Albee scored once. Samantha Baker made 14 saves on 15 shots.

Emily Ericson and Chauntel Veilleux both had unassisted, second-half goals for Calvary Chapel. Hannah Laedie stopped seven of 15 shots.

Greenville 4, Vinalhaven 0

At Greenville, Hannah Breton scored two goals and assisted another to help lead Greenville to the win.

Kahla Lander and Tasha Elsemore both scored a goal for 9-0 Greenville. Darla Larson and Lander didn’t face a shot.

Dana Wentworth made 11 saves on 27 shots for 3-8 Vinalhaven.

Monmouth 3, Boothbay 1

At Monmouth, Jenn Lola scored all three goals to give Monmouth the win.

Cortney Barrett made four saves on six shots for Monmouth.

Brittney Markowski scored at 17:01 in the first half Boothbay. Amanda McFetridge stopped nine of 16 shots.

Lee 5, Bangor Christian 1

At Lee, Karin Bird and Dana Houghton each had a goal and an assist to lead Lee Academy to the win.

Brooke Harris, Amanda Gifford, and Jodi Worcester each scored a goal for 8-0 Lee. Jackie Moors made seven saves on eight shots.

Brooke Hale scored 7-2 Bangor Christian’s lone goal. Mariah Bach stopped 10 of 25 shots.

Old Town 5, Skowhegan 0

At Old Town, Katie Bergeron scored two goals, while assisting on all three of Allison Gallant’s scores to help Old Town win its first game of the season.

Nicole Guay stopped seven of 10 shots, recording the shutout for the 1-7-1 Indians.

Crystal Johnson made eight saves on 19 shots for 1-8-1 Skowhegan.

Hampden 4, Mt. Blue 0

At Hampden, Nori Francis-Mezger and Mikkala Libbey both scored two goals and had an assist to lead Hampden to victory.

Michelle Manning and Annaliese Lafayette each had an assist for 7-2-1 Hampden. Michelle Wells had five saves on 11 shots.

Caitlin Scott stopped 10 of 29 shots for 3-4-2 Mt. Blue.
