YORK – Ricky Jones of Thomaston became the first player in the 15-year history of the Maine Mid-Amateur Championship to win the tournament three years in a row after holding off surging John Bauman for a one-shot victory at York Golf and Tennis Club Sunday.
Jones was the lone player to shoot under par on the first day of the 36-hole event with a 71 Saturday. He followed that up with a 74 on Sunday. Bauman had a 73 and then a 71. Tom Bean of Augusta led all players Sunday with a 69.
