Big School (Classes A-B)

COREY DEWITT

DeWitt, a junior on the Ellsworth cross country team, used a strong late kick to edge Lisbon’s Tyler Clark by eight-tenths of a second and individual honors at the Maine Cross Country Festival of Champs held in Belfast Saturday. DeWitt was timed in 16 minutes, 6.9 seconds in leading Ellsworth to a fourth-place team finish.

Small School (Classes C-D)

JONAH LIZOTTE

Lizotte, a forward on the Greenville boys soccer team, scored 11 goals in four games as the Lakers improved to 9-0. Lizotte had three goals Friday and four goals and an assist Saturday as Greenville swept two games at Vinalhaven. He then had two goals and an assist Monday in a win over Valley of Bingham and two more goals and an assist in a victory over Calvary Chapel of Orrington Tuesday.

GIRLS

Big School (Classes A-B)

JESSIE ROBERTS

Bangor High soccer’s senior midfielder Roberts scored the insurance goal against perennial powerhouse Waterville in a 2-0 win Saturday and also recorded the game-winner in a 2-1 win over Brewer last Tuesday to help vault the 9-1 Rams to No. 1 in the Eastern Maine Class A Heal point standings. Roberts leads Bangor with nine goals.

Small School (Classes C-D)

RACHEL TORREY

The Woodland High sophomore cross country runner and soccer player performed well on both fronts last week. Torrey won her second cross country race in a row, a Downeast Athletic Conference meet in Calais Wednesday afternoon, one week after setting a course record to win the Eastport Invitational. On Monday she scored three goals in the Dragons’ 10-0 soccer win over East Grand of Danforth.
