Basic training

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Army National Guard Pfc. Brandon Ryder has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. A 2002 graduate of John Bapst Memorial High School in Bangor, he is the son of Robert Ryder and Elizabeth Ryder, both of Veazie.

LAWTON, Okla. – Army Reserve Pfc. Win Swanton has graduated from basic combat military training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. He is the son of Joel and Audrey Swanton of Holden.

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Cadet Nicholas Goupee, son of John and Laurie Goupee of Orrington, has completed basic training at the U.S. Military Academy.

Goupee graduated from Bangor High School in June and entered the academy the same month. He will graduate in 2009 and be commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
