Warriors score 3 in second to top Vikes

CARIBOU – Fort Kent scored three unanswered goals in the second half after trailing 1-0 at halftime en route to a 3-1 schoolboy soccer win over the Caribou Vikings Wednesday.

Tom Desjardins, Drew Bleir and Sherman Pelletier each scored goals to lead 4-5-2 Fort Kent. Matt Harvey stopped seven of 16 shots.

Emnonn Harrigan recorded the first-half goal to put the 6-5-1 Vikings up early. Eric Brown made eight saves on 11 shots.

JV: Caribou 1-0

Presque Isle 4, Hermon 1

At Hermon Saturday, Nate Carter scored two goals and assisted another to push Presque Isle to the win.

Greg Whitaker scored twice for 10-0 Presque Isle and Scott Wilson had two assists. Adam Kingsbury made two saves on seven shots.

Ryan Tarr scored on a Joey Sabo assist with 30 minutes left in the first half for 6-3 Hermon. Cory Johnson stopped nine of 16 shots.

Washington Acad. 1, Woodland 0

At East Machias, Julian Washington scored on a 25-yard rocket with seven minutes left in the game to break the scoreless tie and lift the Raiders to a win.

Josiah Jackson made 20 saves on 25 shots for 6-5-1 Washington Academy.

Craig Moody saved 15 of 18 shots for the Dragons, now 8-2.

Isleboro 3, Highview Christian 2

At Charleston, Colin Schmidt scored the game-winning goal with just under two minutes left in the game from 18 yards out.

That goal was Schmidt’s second of the game for the 3-4-1 Eagles. Jon Cunningham notched the other goal from a Nick Porter assist. Mike Piscotta faced 24 shots, saving 14.

For the Knights, Zach Frisk and Angela Francis each recorded goals to tie the game at 2-2. Stefan Rowe made eight saves on 23 shots for 1-6-2 Highview Christian.

Hampden 5, Brewer 1

At Brewer, Logan Larabee and J Uhrin each had two goals to lead the 9-2 Broncos.

Martin Early also notched a goal for Hampden. Camden Murray saved four of the five shots he faced.

Corey Bragg booted the Witches only goal. Chris Brady and Jimmy Nicknair combined to save 10 of 20 shots for 3-7 Brewer.

JV: Hampden 6-0

Bangor 9, Nokomis 0

At Newport, Dylan George recorded three goals to pace the 10-1 Rams.

Scott Sherman scored a goal in each half, while Matt Goodell, Adam Towne, Jojo Hwalek and Kyle Leeman also notched scores. Austin Smith stopped five of seven shots.

For the 1-10 Warriors, Wayne May made 15 saves on 29 shots.

JV: Bangor 7-0

Girls soccer

John Bapst 2, MDI 0

At Bangor, Whitney Sinclair and Katherine Lammert each scored a goal to lead John Bapst to a win.

Ashley Sanford added an assist for the 8-2 Crusaders and Caroline Cassling stopped one of three shots.

Christina McKay made 15 saves on 23 shots for 2-6-3 MDI.

Calais 1, Washinton Acad. 0

At Calais, Courtney Hill broke a scoreless tie four minutes into the second half on a breakaway goal.

Stephanie Perry earned the shutout for 5-7 Calais, saving all 18 shots she faced.

Megan Look saved five of six shots for the 7-2 Raiders.

Searsport 4, DI-Stonington 0

At Searsport, Tianna Faunce racked up three goals as the Vikings rolled to the win.

Annette Anderson chipped in one goal and one assist for Searsport. April Pickering and Amanda Chaney combined for one save on four shots.

Anika Powers made 18 saves on 32 shots for the Mariners.

George Stevens 5, Sumner 0

At East Sullivan, Nina Boys and Robin Rioux notched two goals apiece to lead the Eagles of Blue Hill to the win.

Brittany Olivari chipped in with a goal while Kayla Eaton made eight saves on nine shots for George Stevens.

Whitney Page stopped 28 of 35 shots for the Tigers.

Woodland 6, Narraguagus 2

At Woodland, Heidi Sappier recorded a hat trick to help guide the Dragons to victory.

Lacey Gillespie added two scores and one assist, while Gena Clark also had a goal and an assist.

Amanda Allen tallied both of the Knights’ goals, with Katie Cirone assisting one. Samantha Baker made six saves on 17 shots for 6-2-2 Narraguagus.

Cindy Bergin stopped two of six shots for Woodland, now 5-4-2.

Schenck 2, PVHS 0

At East Millinocket, Courtney McLaughlin scored a goal in each half to boost the Wolverines to victory.

Robin Larlee faced 19 shots, while making 15 saves.

Jenn Plourde saved 11 balls on 19 attempts for Penobscot Valley of Howland.

PCHS 3, Foxcroft Academy 2

At Guilford, Christine Davis’ unassisted goal with 49 seconds left gave the Piscataquis Pirates the win over Foxcroft.

Tori Tracy had a goal and an assist, Jessica Crouse scored a goal, Davis had an assist, and Jill Martell made 16 saves on 18 shots for the 3-8-1 Pirates.

Lindsay Chase and Marley Clark each scored an unassisted goal for the 3-7-1 Ponies. Brittany Fadley made 12 saves on 14 shots.
