PORTLAND – GE Free Maine has launched a campaign calling for a ban on genetically engineered trees. As part of that campaign, it has started a tour of the state featuring the film “A Silent Forest: The Growing Threat of Genetically Engineered Trees.”

The film will be followed by a panel discussion with Anne Peterman and Orin Langelle of the national Stop GE Trees Campaign.

Narrated by Dr. David Suzuki, an award-winning scientist and environmentalist, and host of “The Nature of Things,” the film exposes the threats posed by the introduction of genetically engineered trees into the environment.

The tour stops are:

. 1 p.m. Oct. 13, Unity College, Unity.

. 7 p.m. Oct. 13, Great Hall of Turrets, College of the Atlantic, Bar Harbor.

. 3 p.m. Oct. 14, University of Maine, Orono.

. 7 p.m. Oct. 14, Blue Hill Town Hall.
