Air Force Airman Sarah D. Nason has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. She has earned distinction as an honor graduate. Nason is a 1998 graduate of Fort Fairfield High School and received a bachelor’s degree in 2004 from the University of Maine at Presque Isle. She is the daughter of Cheryl Nason of Fort Fairfield.

Army Pfc. Ryan V. Mulherin has graduated from One Station Unit Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. He is a 1999 graduate of Limestone High School and received an associate degree in 2000 from San Diego Golf Academy, Chandler, Ariz. He is the son of Alan and Rosalind Mulherin of Littleton.

Army Pvt. Robbie L. Kyle has graduated from One Station Unit Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. He is a 2004 graduate of the Loring Job Corps Center, Limestone. He is the son of Vada Sanford and stepson of Wayne Sanford, both of Island Falls.

Army National Guard Pvt. Dustin Pelletier has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He earned distinction as an honor graduate. Pelletier is the son of Marilyn Pelletier of St. Agatha.

Army Pvt. Jason Dyer has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. He is a 2002 graduate from a home school program. Dyer is the son of Wendy and Bill Dyer of Jonesport.

Air Force Col. Viktor I. Jonkoff has retired from the U.S. Air Force after more than 28 years of military service. During the retirement ceremony, he was decorated with the Legion of Merit Medal, the nation’s fifth-highest medal, awarded to members of all U.S. armed forces for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services and achievements.

Jonkoff is a 1972 graduate of Camden (S.C.) High School, received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 1976 and was commissioned as a second lieutenant through the Air Force ROTC program at Clemson (S.C.) University. In 1982, he earned a master’s degree in business administration and management from the University of Wyoming at Laramie. He is the son of Silvia S. Jonkoff of Camden, S.C., and the late Imre M. Jonkoff. Jonkoff’s wife, Donna, is the daughter of Melva M. Oberg of Caribou.

John R. Hardy has graduated from the nine-week basic combat training course at Fort Jackson in Columbia, S.C. Hardy, who is the son of Robert Hardy of Marshfield, graduated from Machias Memorial High School in 2002 and Wyoming Technical Institute in 2003.

Houlton High School graduate Joshua K. Miller has graduated from the eight-week Army National Guard basic combat military training course at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla. Miller is the son of Glenn and Elaine Miller of Foxcroft Road.
