On Sept. 29 in Dover-Foxcroft, there was an incident involving a police officer and a suspect which resulted in a standoff situation. I have every reason to believe the local police could have taken care of this problem effectively.
Sitting in front of my office window I counted 14 police vehicles and men respond up Route 7 driving 60 to 70 mph. The needless caper could have caused serious injury or even death.
When I went home I told my wife it would be quite simple to discharge a tear gas bomb into this building. Guess what? At 9:20 p.m. they shot in the tear gas and the incident was over.
Whoever was responsible for discharging such an army of officers and vehicles should be reprimanded severely.
