COLLEGE

Mike Bracco

Colby College senior defensive back Mike Bracco was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Football Player of the Week. Bracco had a forced fumble, fumble recovery, an interception, and seven tackles in Colby’s win over Wesleyan.

Jenny Lawrence

Colby College’s Jenny Lawrence was honored as the Volleyball Player of the Week for the New England Small College Athletic Conference. Lawrence averaged 34.8 assists and 12 digs per match to lead Colby to a 4-0 week. She set a school record for aces in a four-game match with nine in a 3-1 victory over Wesleyan.

Joseph Fitzsimmons

University of Maine-Farmington senior Joseph Fitzsimmons was named the North Atlantic Conferece men’s cross country Runner of the Week. Fitzsimmons ran a 28:15 over a 5.1-mile course to finish 22nd in a field of 236 runners at the James Early Invitational in Westfield, Mass.

Andra Spearrin

Andra Spearrin of the University of Maine-Farmington was honored as the North Atlantic Conference women’s cross country Runner of the Week. Spearrin finished 22nd out of 223 runners at the James Early Invitational. She ran a 20:01 on the 5-kilometer course.

Teri Salwek

University of Maine at Farmington freshman Teri Salwek was named the women’s cross country Rookie of the Week by the North Atlantic Conference. Salwek finished 73rd out of 223 runners in the James Early Invitational with a time of 21:30.

Anne Woodsum

Husson College senior Anne Woodsum was named the North Atlantic Conference volleyball Player of the Week. Woodsum averaged 4.4 kills and 4.5 digs per game while totaling 15 service aces and four blocks in a 3-1 week.

Jodi Welch

Jodi Welch of the University of Maine-Farmington was honored as the North Atlantic Conference women’s soccer Player of the Week. Welch scored four goals in a 2-0-1 week.

Amanda Byrne

University of Maine-Farmington freshman Amanda Byrne was honored as the women’s soccer Rookie of the Week for the North Atlantic Conference. Byrne assisted on the game-winning overtime goal to lift UM-Farmington over Bay Path 1-0.

Brian Lemont

Freshman goalkeeper Brian Lemont of the University of Maine at Farmington was named the North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week for men’s soccer. Lemont made 27 saves and held opponents scoreless for 290 minutes for a 2-0-1 week.

Marie-Andree Canuel

University of Maine’s Andree Canuel was named the America East Player of the Week for women’s soccer. Canuel scored four goals and assisted another, including the game-winning goal over Stony Brook.

Erin O’Callahan

University of Maine-Machias senior Erin O’Callahan was honored as the women’s soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the Sunrise Conference. O’Callahan scored five goals during the week including two goals in a win over College of St. Joseph.

Ben Bishop

University of Maine men’s ice hockey goalie Ben Bishop was named the Hockey East Rookie of the Week. Bishop stopped 34 of 37 shots in his first collegiate game, a 3-2 overtime loss to Colorado College.

Samantha Rennie

Sophomore defender Samantha Rennie of the University of Southern Maine was named the women’s soccer Defensive Player of the Week by the Little East Conference. Rennie scored her first collegiate goal in the Huskies’ only game during the week.

Mindy Morneault

University of Southern Maine freshman goalkeeper Mindy Morneault was named the Little East Conference Rookie of the Week for women’s soccer. Morneault made 13 saves to help the Huskies to a 2-2 tie against Bowdoin College.
