The state high school golf championships scheduled for today at Natanis Golf Course in Vassalboro were postponed Friday due to the forecast for inclement weather and the already extremely wet course conditions, according to a news release from the Maine Principals’ Association.
The boys team and individual tournaments now will be held Wednesday at Natanis, with registration from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. and a 10 a.m. start. The girls individual tournament has been rescheduled for Thursday with registration from 10:15 to 10:30 a.m. with an 11 a.m. start.
Also, Saturday’s first round of the North Atlantic Conference men’s golf championship scheduled for Belgrade Lakes Golf Club has been canceled. The seven schools will now play a one-day, 18-hole championship Sunday starting at 10 a.m.
Among other events slated for Saturday, the Penobscot Valley Conference cross country championships are still scheduled to be held at the Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center (formerly Bangor Mental Health Institute) course in Bangor. The meet, hosted by John Bapst High, is set to begin at 1 p.m.
