Red Riot pride

I would like to take this time to let my community know of a gentleman who has not only inspired my two sons but has taken the load off my shoulders as a father: Orono’s head football coach, Bob Sinclair.

I have listened to my two sons, Brady, who graduated from Orono in 2004, and Kash, who is a freshman this year, pass stories back and forth about how Mr. Sinclair not only helped them adjust to the football field but has inspired them to come together as brothers. The term “pull together” has banded this team together on and off the field.

As a sports father in a family of athletes with two sons and one daughter who have excelled beyond my dreams, I can finally turn my countless hours of preaching, car pooling, and praising over to a gentleman who I have all the faith and respect for. In this competitive world of sports, we as parents want our children to excel and sometimes we push too hard, but since coming to Orono from Phoenix, Ariz., I have felt a great sense of joy and pride that I have chosen Orono High School as a learning ground for my children. Mr. Sinclair has not only taught my kids respect but myself. As proud as this father is of his children, I am also proud to know Mr. Sinclair and, to me, he is perfect. Thank you, Mr. Sinclair, for your leadership, dedication, and commitment. There is no “I” in team just like there is no “football” without you!
