MACHIAS – Norman Nelson, a lifelong resident of Washington County and a selectman in Machias, will be the featured speaker tonight at the meeting of the Machias Historical Society.
Open to the public, the meeting takes place at 6:30 p.m. at the Hemingway building on Court Street, formerly the town hall.
Nelson will talk about his experiences onboard the three-mast schooner, the Lucy Evelyn, built in Machias. Nelson sailed on the ship in the 1930s. Nelson gave a similar presentation earlier this fall to the Beals Historical Society.
