ROCKLAND – Caitlin Hynes scored what proved to be the game-winning goal with 13:07 left in the game to lead No. 8 Rockland to a 2-1 preliminary victory over No. 9 Nokomis and a berth in the Eastern Maine Class B quarterfinal round.

Ashley Kenney tallied an unassisted goal with 26:53 left while Dana Clark made 11 saves on 12 shots for the 6-8-1 Tigers.

Nokomis’ Dana-Jo Gardner scored a goal assisted by Alyssa Bragdon late in the second. Beth Flanders had 12 saves on 14 shots for the Warriors of Newport, who finished at 5-9-1.
