HAVERHILL, Mass. – Maine singles champions Shawn Morrison of Brewer and Judy Bowden of Newport captured the International Candlepin Bowling Association Championships in 10-string matches Sunday at the Pilgrim Lanes in Haverhill, Mass.
Morrison rolled a 1,257 to beat state champs Craig Holbrook of New Hampshire and Shawn Baker of Massachusetts while Bowden totaled 1,192 to defeat Glennis McKinley of New Hampshire and Nance Vestal of Massachusetts.
The championship matches were part of the ICBA’s Hall of Fame weekend that featured the induction of 23-time Maine champ Charlie Milan III of Brewer. Milan was inducted for his competitive ability along with Ed Czernicki of Webster, Mass.; Toni-Marie Bandinelli-Lopes of Haverhill, Mass.; Jack Ray of Stow, Mass.; Dick Smus of Feeding Hills, Mass.; Steve Vadney of Claremont, N.H.; and Roly West of Medfield, Mass.
Irene Valcourt of Newport, N.H., received the Stasia Czernicki Memorial Award; Kevin Cormier of Gardiner, Mass., received the President’s Cup; and Dan Ryan of Malden, Mass., received the Extraordinary Service and Sport Contribution.
