BREWSTER, Mass. – Ross McGee shot a 2-over-par 74 Tuesday to lead Husson College of Bangor to a fifth-place finish in the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association Championship at Captains Golf Course.

The Eagles shot a combined 299 Tuesday, second best among the 45 schools participating, to finish with a two-day total of 612. The University of Rhode Island won with a 592. The top four teams are all NCAA Division I programs.

Husson’s play was good enough to win the Div. III title, while also besting all of the Div. II teams.

McGee, named to the All-NEIGA Division III team for the third time, finished third among individuals with his 36-hole score of 1-over-par 145, six strokes behind winner Jason Parajeckas of the University of Connecticut and one behind URI’s Jason Pannone.

The team total is determined by adding up the four best scores each day from the five-man team. The other Husson competitors were Lance Libby with 72 for 152 (tied for 17th), John Ellis at 77-157 (T42), Adam Duplisea at 76-158 (T49), and Robbie Picard at 78-161 (T78).
