WALTHAM, Mass. – Adam Staier of Farmington came from behind to defeat Bob Keating of New Hampshire to win the East Region and New England One Hour Racewalk Championship at Bentley College Sunday.

Staier, a senior at the University of Maine-Farmington, completed 10,651 meters and Keating finished with 10,527.

Matthew Forgues, a 13-year-old from Boothbay, finished third in the open division and first in the junior division with a distance of 10,076 meters. University of Southern Maine senior Daniel Pendergast of Caribou finished fourth (9,878) and Aaron Carol of Gardiner was fifth (9,450).

In the women’s race, Sara Adams of Lisbon Falls placed first in the open and junior division and 10th overall with a distance of 8,677 meters.
