Kevin Hancock became the first person from the state of Maine to become chairman of The National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association at the organization’s annual meeting and industry summit held in early October in Vancouver, British Columbia. “I am humbled, honored and excited to have this opportunity to serve our industry,” said Hancock, president and CEO of Hancock Lumber Co., which is based in Casco. NLBMDA represents 500 lumber companies and more than 500,000 employees in Washington, D.C., on legislative and regulatory affairs. Additionally, the association provides a central point of contact for lumber dealers all over the country. Hancock Lumber, a sixth-generation family business, operates three sawmills and 10 lumberyards in Maine.
