DYER BROOK – Steven Deveau had one goal and two assists as the 11th-ranked Schenck Wolverines upset No. 6 Southern Aroostook Community High 4-2 in an Eastern Maine Class D boys soccer prelim Wednesday.

Kerry Thompson, Tyrell Davis and Trevor Violette notched a goal apiece for 5-9-1 Schenck of East Millinocket. Lanny Thompson had nine saves on 11 shots.

Adam Anderson and Jeremy Boutlier scored for the 10-4-1 Warriors. Colby Clark saved 16 of 20 shots.

Woodland 4, Easton 0

At Woodland, Cody Sappier scored two second-half goals and recorded an assist to help the No. 5 Dragons cruise past the No. 12 Bears.

Jeremy Burke nailed a penalty kick to put 11-3 Woodland up 1-0 at halftime. Todd Townsend also scored, while Brandon Tomah notched two assists. Craig Moody saved all 14 shots he faced.

Jeremy Brock made 30 saves on 34 shots for 9-6 Easton.

Katahdin 5, Calvary Chapel 1

At Stacyville, Alex McAvoy tallied three goals and added one assist as the No. 7 Cougars rolled over the No. 10 Sabers.

Matt Willette scored twice, adding one assist, while Elliot Ramsey recorded three assists for 8-5-2 Katahdin. Burton Brayall stopped nine of 12 shots.

Luke Martin scored on an unassisted boot in the second-half for Calvary Chapel of Orrington, which finishes the season at 6-6. John Tomelow made 11 saves on 18 shots.

Machias 2, Shead 0

At Machias, Mike Little swooped on a loose ball during a goalmouth scramble and drilled it home from 10 yards out to break a scoreless deadlock with 10:19 left and lead third-seeded Machias to victory over No. 14 Shead of Eastport.

Isaiah Roberts added an insurance goal 1:50 later and Garrett Getchell finished with three saves on six shots for the 12-1-2 Bulldogs.

Brandon LaPlante had 15 saves on 22 shots for the 5-7-3 Tigers.

Class C

Central 3, Houlton 1

At Corinth, Levi Nickerson tallied two goals to lead No. 6 Central into the quarterfinals.

Scott Kelley added a goal and Will Fenn and Dan Kane assists for the 8-7 Red Devils. Charles Haney saved 11 of 16 shots.

Jordan Gard scored for the 11th-ranked Shiretowners, who finish 4-10-1. Eben Thompson stopped 17 of 28 shots.

Fort Kent 6, PVHS 1

At Fort Kent, Drew Blier and Tom Desjardins each booted two goals to lift the No. 7 Warriors past the No. 10 Howlers

Bud Soucy and Kelly Thibodeau also scored goals for 6-7-2 Fort Kent. Matthew Harvey stopped nine of 14 shots.

Ryan Ware notched a second-half goal for 5-9-1 Penobscot Valley of Howland. Brian Harris made 14 saves on 31 shots.

PCHS 3, Washington Acad. 2

At Guilford, the No. 8 Pirates scored three unanswered goals in the second half to erase a 2-0 Washington Academy lead.

Roy Burdin scored the winner on a header with 2:27 left while Mike Wharff tied the game with 6:05 remaining. Both goals were unassisted. Brian Hackett got the 7-6-2 Pirates on the board, with an assist form Andy Zimmerman. Ryan Martell made 15 saves on 18 shots.

Julian Washington scored an unassisted goal and Perry Newell scored off a pass from Byeong Jun for the No. 9 Raiders of East Machias, who wind up at 7-7-1. Josiah Jackson stopped 20 of 27 shots.

Class B

Hermon 1, MDI 0

At Bar Harbor, Anthony Rowe scored the game-winner three minutes into the second half as the No. 9 Hawks knocked off the No. 8 Trojans.

Rowe scored after Ryan Tarr booted a direct kick from 30 yards out. Josh Blaine earned the shutout for the 7-6-2 Hawks, saving seven of nine shots.

Max Blandford saved nine saves on 13 shots for MDI, which ends its season at 6-6-3.

Field hockey

Class A

Skowhegan 7, Lawrence 0

At Skowhegan, Samantha Gifford scored three goals while Courtney Veinotte and Lara Saydjari each scored two to lead the top-seeded Indians to the win.

Lindsey Pinkham had three assists for 14-1 Skowhegan. Megan Smith saved both shots she faced.

Kasey McPhail stopped 15 of 22 shots for the eighth-ranked Bulldogs of Fairfield, who finished 6-10.

Class C

Hall-Dale 3, Piscataquis 2

At Guilford, Hannah Rau scored a pair of goals, including the go-ahead goal that broke a 1-1 tie with 5:29 left in the first half, as fifth seed Hall-Dale eliminated fourth seed Piscataquis Community High School.

Rau’s second-half goal extended the lead to 3-1.

Katie Bell had the other goal for 10-5 Hall-Dale and Alyssa Withee made 16 saves.

Kaitlin Smith and Tracy Dewey scored for 9-5-1 PCHS, Hattie Agnew had an assist and Jessica Pratt made nine saves.
