Husson shuts out U-New England

BANGOR – KaroleAnne Emery scored two goals as the Husson College field hockey team shut out the University of New England 3-0 Wednesday.

Sara McIntire added a goal for the 5-8 Eagles. Kelly Bocchino had seven saves on 11 shots.

Krystal Wysocki saved eight of 15 shots for 3-11 U-New England.

Framingham St. 3, USM 2 (2OT)

At Framingham, Mass., sophomore Meghan Staffiere knocked in the game-winner 33 seconds into the second overtime to lift the Rams to the win.

Staffiere also scored a first-half goal, while Erin Johnson had the other score to accompany her assist.

Kayla Vaughan and Lauren Cash each had a goal for the 5-9 Huskies. Sadie Garnache-Poirier made 22 saves on 27 shots.

Lindsay McKearny saved seven of 12 shots for 6-5 Framingham.

Men’s soccer

Unity 2, SMCC 1

At Unity, Ben Skelly scored the game-winning goal 21 minutes into the second period to lift the Rams to a win.

Matt Pickowicz scored the taem’s first-half goal from a John Korkus assist.

SMCC responded with a goal of its own from John Wigandt, but it wasn’t enough to capture the win. Matt Lathen made five saves on 17 shots.

Unity keeper Tyler Ferguson saved nine of 10 shots.

UMPI 3, UMFK 1

At Fort Kent, Robert Alan scored the game-winning goal and assisted on another to lead the Owls past the rival Bengals.

Sebastian Itman helped UMPI overcome a scoreless halftime tie as he had a goal two minutes into the second period from a Matt Petrie pass.

In less than 30 seconds, the Owls posted two goals. The tie-breaker came from Travis Parents and Alan’s goal iced the game. Scott Clenchy made two saves on three shots for UMPI, who moves to 6-5-1.

UM-Fort Kent, now 5-6-1, responded with 20 minutes to play, when Miguel Roman-Gomez tied the game on a Jules Bodo assist. Nick Thibodeau saved seven on 10 shots for the Bengals.

Southern Maine 5, Thomas 0

At Gorham, Sinisa Bajic netted three goals in the first half to help the 4-7-3 Huskies blank the Terriers.

Adam Bial added another first-period score and one assist, while Ryan Colpitts booted an unassisted goal in the second half. Chris Willard and Joel Costigan combined for four saves on seven shots.

Ryan Conrad stopped seven of 22 shots for the 0-11-1 Terriers.

Women’s soccer

St. Joseph’s 5, U-New England 0

At Standish, Megan Willette notched two unassisted goals and had two assists to help the Monks blank UNE.

Katie Jordan had one goal and an assist, while Heather Stanger and Danielle McLaughlin also recorded scores. Krista Wotherspoon saved all eight shots to earn the shutout for 8-5 Saint Joe’s.

Katherine Trachimovicz made 10 saves on 15 shots for the Nor’easters, now 5-7-1.
