Fly ball tournament for dogs

HAMPDEN – Fly ball MAINEiacs Flyball Team will sponsor Maine’s first fly ball tournament 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 5-6, at the Bangor Tennis Club on Mecaw Road.

Organizer Lori Pilvines said this was the first fly ball tournament to be held in Maine. Her dog Baxter, a beagle-Brittany spaniel mix, is a member of the MAINEiacs team.

Fly ball is a relay race for dogs. Teams from New England and Canada will compete.

The tournament is open to the public free of charge. Those who wish to take photographs of the dogs in action are asked to use cameras without a flash in order not to distract the dogs. For information, call Lori Pilvines at 537-3667, e-mail govegan@rivah.net or visit www.flyballdogs.com/flyballmainiacs.
