Bangor police Officer Robert Hutchings responded to a call Wednesday at the Airport Mall Hannaford supermarket where a woman was observed stuffing $118.57 worth of groceries into a large black bag and was apprehended by an employee when she tried to leave the store.
She had no personal identification and gave the store a false name. When Hutchings warned her of the consequences of giving a false name, she identified herself as Megan Colcord, 19, of Bangor. Hutchings called dispatch, learned that Colcord was wanted for failure to appear in court, and arrested her.
At Penobscot County Jail on Thursday, it was revealed that the woman was Shauna Beaulieu, 24, of Exeter. Beaulieu had three warrants out for her arrest for theft, failure to pay a fine for theft, and aggravated criminal mischief. Failure to give correct name was added to her tab.
Officer Kerry Libby of the Bangor police answered a call Wednesday morning from Wal-Mart on Spring Road where two homeless women, Danielle Berube, 27, and Danielle King, 23, were caught shoplifting $103.34 worth of merchandise. According to the police report, the two women readily admitted to the theft “because they were living on the streets.”
Berube said that women at the homeless shelter had stolen her underwear and she was replacing them at Wal-Mart. King said she had a new job that required a belt, but didn’t have the money to buy a new one.
After releasing the two women, Libby learned that King was on probation for forgery. Her parole officer requested that she be held. Libby found King with Berube and a man in a truck in the parking lot and allowed her to grab her purse before taking her away. According to the police report, he found inside the purse “a large amount of cash and various credit cards.”
