Jade is a bright and engaging 10-year-old girl, with a strong personality. She knows what she likes and sticks with her plans to get things done. Jade is very artistic and interested in crafts, and those who know Jade well describe her as a budding artist. Jade is a very active child. Like many children Jade’s age, she enjoys running, jumping and playing outdoors.
Jade loves all animals, especially horses and birds. She wishes for a family who is involved with horses and dreams of caring for a horse of her own someday. Jade would do very well living with a family who shares her passion for horses.
Jade will benefit from matching with potential parents who are nurturing, patient and calm. She is at her best when very clear, consistent, firm yet nurturing limits are set. Jade prefers to live with a family who “loves the beach and horses.”
Due to her desire for attention, Jade will benefit from a very active and flexible family who will be able to spend quality one-on-one time with her.
Jade and her two siblings have been in foster care since 2003. They share strong connections with each other. It is essential that these relationships be maintained for their well-being, as the siblings are not being considered for adoption as a group.
Jade is one of 179 children currently in Maine Department of Health and Human Services care who is seeking an adoptive family.
Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with Maine DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care.
