CASTINE – Senior fullback Don Thibodeau racked up 218 yards on 29 carries and scored two touchdowns as the Maine Maritime Academy Mariners defeated the Worcester State Lancers 35-7 in New England Football Conference action Saturday.
Thibodeau peeled off a 50-yard scoring jaunt in the first quarter to open the scoring and added a 1-yard plunge in the fourth quarter to help ice it.
Maine Maritime Academy piled up 304 yards on the ground, while senior quarterback B.J. Dunlap completed three of six passes for 84 yards, including an 11-yard TD toss to Brandon Goodrich.
Goodrich also turned in a 10-yard scoring run.
Chris Clayton paced the MMA defense with 12 tackles, while Nate Bolduc and Wayne Withers made 11 each. Brandon Hamilton returned an interception 60 yards for a score, while Brian Guillerault and John Jenkinson also picked off passes.

At Hartford, Conn., the Bantams’ offense dominated, racking up 413 yards and 27 first downs while possessing the ball for more than 43 minutes, en route to the NESCAC win over the previously undefeated Polar Bears.
Bowdoin managed only five first downs and 140 total yards. Quarterback Ricky Leclerc completed five of 16 passes for 98 yards. Nolan McNair’s 31-yard field goal accounted for the visitors’ only points.
