MACHIAS – Heidi D. Nelson, the executive director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency in Washington County, announced that the election period for FSA county committees will be held from Friday, Nov. 4, until Monday, Dec. 5.

FSA county committees are intended to help FSA agricultural programs serve the needs of local producers. Committees provide input on commodity price support loans and payments, conservation programs, selected disaster payments, and other disaster assistance.

Agricultural producers of voting age involved with any FSA program can vote in the FSA election. A person supervising and conducting farming operations on an entire farm who is younger than 18 may vote.

Ballots will be mailed to most producers on Nov. 4. Anyone not receiving a ballot or wanting more information should call his local FSA office or visit www.fsa.usda.gov/pas.
