UNITY – Farmingdale’s Johnny Clark overcame a flat tire late in the race to make his way through a diminished field and win an abbreviated Hight Chevrolet-Buick Long John 150 at Unity Raceway Saturday night.
The race was stopped with 23 laps remaining because Unity race officials had run out of the drying agent they use to soak up the oil as a result of the high number of accidents and mechanical mishaps.
There was a five-car wreck on lap 109 and on the ensuing restart, Clark and Morrill’s Travis Benjamin made contact. Benjamin’s car flew into a ditch near the flag stand and Clark had to go to the pits with the flat tire.
Clark eventually took over the lead and when another accident prompted a lap 127 caution, the race was halted.
Albion’s Steve Nelson finished second and rounding out the top 10 in the 26-car field were John Phippen Jr. of Town Hill, St. Albans’ Ricky Morse, Albion’s Dean Fuller, Newcastle’s Charlie Colby, Scott Chubbuck of Brunswick, Unity’s Tim Ferreira, Benjamin and Bangor’s Gary Smith.

Santerre clinches 4th Busch title
At Thompson, Conn., Andy Santerre of Cherryfield finished eighth in the New England Dodge Dealers Twin 100 at Thompson International Speedway on Sunday night and that was good enough to claim his fourth consecutive NASCAR Busch North Series championship.
Santerre held a 75-point lead heading into the season finale and needed to finish 17th or better to best his teammate Mike Stefanik of Coventry, RI, who finished second.
Eddie McDonald of Rowley, Mass., took the win ahead of Stefanik. Mike Olsen of North Haverhill, N.H., finished third, 2005 Rookie of the Year Sean Caisse of Pelham, N.H., was fourth, and Uncasville, Conn.’s Matt Kobyluck rounded out the top five.
Tracy Gordon of Strong finished 10th.
