WINDHAM – Amanda Gray racked up 19 kills Saturday to power Greely of Cumberland Center to a 4-1 victory over Mount Desert Island for the high school volleyball state championship at Windham High School.

The Rangers beat the Eastern Maine champion Trojans 25-22, 25-8, 19-25, 25-15 to complete a perfect season at 16-0 and wrap up their third consecutive state title.

Greely won the rematch of last year’s championship match while collecting their 49th straight victory.

Setter Tessa Churchill came up with 31 assists for the winners, who erased a 10-9 deficit in the final game by outscoring MDI 16-5 to wrap up the win.

Coach Todd Brophy’s Trojans closed a superb season with a 16-1 record.

MDI had fallen behind 2-0 before rallying in the third game. Despite spotting Greely a 16-8 lead, Robbin Dilley’s serving prowess helped the Trojans bounce back to claim the game.

MDI, the top seed in Eastern Maine, cruised to the regional title after receiving a first-round bye courtesy of its top seed.

The Trojans then beat the No. 5 Calais Blue Devils 3-0 in the semifinal round and blanked the No. 2 Woodland Dragons in the regional final 3-0.
