FARMINGTON – Liz Jones scored one goal and assisted on another by Jodi Welch to lead the University of Maine-Farmington Beavers into the North Atlantic Conference women’s soccer finals by virtue of a 3-0 victory over Bay Path (Mass.) College Tuesday.

The Beavers will take on No. 1 Castleton State (Vt.) College in the final.

Melissa Porter added a goal and Megan McCrum two assists for 12-4-3 UMaine-Farmington, the No. 2 seed. Melissa DeMerchant saved both shots she faced.

Denise Horsebelle stopped 13 of 16 shots for 11-6-3 Bay Path, the No. 3 seed.

Castleton St. 2, Maine Maritime 0

At Castleton, Vt., Lindsey Kendall scored at 30:21 of the first half to lead No. 1 Castleton State to a North Atlantic Conference semifinal win.

Amy Yandow sealed the win with a goal at 85:03 for the 14-4-2 winners. Kim Allen had one save on nine shots.

Meghan Marshall saved seven of 19 shots for the fourth-seeded Mariners, who finished 10-7-1.

So. Maine 1, R.I. College 0

At Gorham, Dianna Thibaudeau scored the game’s only goal 19:46 into the game off a Liz Brunton pass to lift Southern Maine to a Little East playoff win.

Mindy Morneault saved five of seven shots for the 11-6-1 Huskies.

Krissie Pyzynski had one save on four shots for 10-8 Rhode Island College.

Field hockey

Keene State 2, USM 0

At Keene, N.H., Katrine Pokrywka and Amanda Rosenbeck recorded a goal apiece to lead Keene State to a Little East quarterfinal win.

The Owls improved to 12-8 while the Huskies of Gorham finished 7-13.

Pokrywka added an assist while Rachel Ladd had two for Keene State and Sara Joyce saved both USM shots.

Sadie Garnache-Poirier saved five of 12 shots for the Huskies.

UMF 3, Simmons 2

At Farmington, Kristen Allen scored two goals, including the winner in overtime, to lift third-seeded University of Maine-Farmington by No. 2 Simmons and into the North Atlantic Conference final.

Mary Sinclair assisted on the winning goal for 11-5 UMF. Lauren Stevens added a goal and Kaeleigh Barker made 14 saves.

UMF will play for the NAC title on Saturday in Springfield, Mass., against No. 1 Western New England College, a 6-1 winner over No. 4 Castleton State Tuesday.
