Big School (Classes A-B)

NATE CARTER

Carter, a senior striker for the Presque Isle boys soccer team, scored a pair of goals Saturday as the Wildcats defeated John Bapst of Bangor 3-0 to win the Eastern Maine Class B championship. With the effort, Carter, who holds PI’s career and single-season goal-scoring records, helped the Wildcats to their first-ever regional title in boys soccer.

SMALL SCHOOLS

Small school (Classes C-D)

DAN BEATHAM

Beatham, a member of the Dexter boys soccer team, scored both of his team’s goals Saturday to lift the Tigers to a 2-1 victory over George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill in the Eastern Maine Class C championship game. Beatham’s second goal of the match came 6 minutes, 42 seconds into the second overtime to lift the Tigers to their second regional title in three years.

GIRLS

Big School (Classes A-B)

BRIANA CURRY

Curry, a sophomore on the Belfast field hockey team, scored the game-winner in a 2-1 victory over York in the Class B state championship game Saturday. Curry, who comes off the bench, scored three goals in the postseason.

Small School (Classes C-D)

HANNAH BRETON

The Greenville senior striker scored both of the Lakers’ goals in a 2-1 overtime win over Richmond in the Western Maine Class D soccer championship game Saturday. Breton has a team-high 31 goals this year.
