Man arrested second time after police learn he used a false name

A Washington County man was arrested for a second time in less than a month after authorities learned that he was using a false name the first time he was arrested.

Christopher Paul, 23, of Pleasant Point is being charged with felony aggravated forgery after his arrest on Oct. 28 in Orono.

Paul also will face the same charges, including assault, escape and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants that stemmed from an Oct. 13 incident.

Paul had been stopped by a University of Maine Public Safety officer for erratic driving, but he broke free from the officer and fled.

Paul, who was using the name Christopher Altvater, struck an Orono police sergeant who had arrived to assist in locating him.

A Bangor man told police Tuesday that he put two loads of laundry into the machines at the Garland Street Laundry and when he returned later, the clothing was gone.

The man said the theft took place roughly between 5 p.m. and 5:50 p.m. while he was waiting for his laundry out in the parking lot, reported Bangor police Officer Kerry Libby.

The employees didn’t see anything but they are checking to see if anything was captured on the video surveillance.

The value of the clothing was estimated at $400.
