CLOVIS, N.M. – Air Force Master Sgt. Betsy Eveland is deployed overseas at a forward operating location in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Eveland, a personnel superintendent with 17 years of military service, is normally assigned to the 27th Mission Support Squadron, Cannon Air Force Base. She is the daughter of Linda Campbell and stepdaughter of Martin Campbell of Brewer.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska – Timothy Jameson has deployed overseas to a forward operating location in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Jameson, a platoon sergeant, is normally assigned to the 14th Cavalry Regiment, Fort Wainwright, Fairbanks, Alaska. He is the son of E. Gale Jameson of Veazie and a 1986 graduate of Hampden Academy.

Basic training

SAN ANTONIO – Recent graduates of basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base are:

. Airman 1st Class Katie Hawks, a 1999 graduate of Bangor High School, the daughter of James and Mary Hawks of Bangor.

. Airman 1st Class Mallory McAvoy, a 2005 graduate of Nokomis Regional High School, the daughter of Julie McNichol-Martin of St. Albans and Sid McAvoy of Bangor.

GREAT LAKES, Ill. – Recent graduates of basic training at Recruit Training Command are:

. Navy Seaman Recruit David Bennett, the son of Linda and Bruce Bennett of Bangor. He is a 2005 graduate of Bangor High School.

. Navy Seaman Recruit Matthew Gray, the son of Melanie and Chris Gray of Bangor.

PARRIS ISLAND, S.C. – Marine Corps Reserve Pvt. Richard Study Jr. recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. He is the son of Sally Clark and stepson of Keith Lyons of Brewer.

Return from deployment

NORFOLK, Va. – Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Paul Zani and his shipmates have returned from a scheduled deployment while assigned to the dock-landing ship USS Ashland, homeport, Norfolk, Va. Dock-landing ships transport and launch amphibious craft and vehicles with their crews and personnel in amphibious assault operations.

Zani, a 2000 graduate of Brewer High School, is the son of Carolyn and Robert Zani of Brewer.
