SOUTHWEST HARBOR – Bureaucratic changes, the high cost of fuel and some discussion of the town’s ongoing frustration with the designers of its proposed $1.46 million fire station were on the agenda at Wednesday night’s meeting of the Board of Selectmen.

The selectmen’s recent decision to terminate the town’s contract with engineering and architecture firm OEST Associates of South Portland has been delayed by legal and financial concerns, according to town officials.

“I asked that they complete the contract and send us a full calculation of the complete contract costs,” Ken Minier, town manager, said at the meeting. “I think they were very gray. I’m still waiting.”

Chairman Skip Wilson vented his displeasure with the slow pace of the removal of the design firm.

“I just don’t see why we can’t go ahead and end this contract,” he said.

No action on the matter was taken at the meeting.

In other news, the board voted unanimously to change the date of its meetings to the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month and voted to accept a $2.05 locked-in price for heating oil for the 2005-2006 fiscal year.
