While I was getting into my car that has a VOTE NO ON 1 bumper sticker on it, another driver pulled alongside me and asked me if I was gay. I ignored him but he got louder and he yelled “DYKE.” Another man who witnessed this came up to me and said that was wrong.

He said, “Don’t take this personal but I am voting to do away with the law.”

You know? I do take it personally. These men would likely deny me a job, a mortgage or apartment, a room in an inn if they could. Everyone in this state (yes, including me) is entitled to be free of discrimination. Discrimination toward gay and lesbian people is here. I hear it. I experience it.

Please do not let narrow-minded people take my rights away. Please say no to this and vote no on 1 on Nov. 8. Make it personal.
