CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Gina Legge’s unassisted goal 17 minutes, 21 seconds into the game lifted the No. 2 University of Maine field hockey team to a 1-0 win over No. 3 Albany in an America East semifinal and into Saturday’s conference championship game.
Maine, now 13-6, will face No. 1 Boston University, which earned a 5-0 win over No. 4 Vermont. The title game will start at 3 p.m. The Terriers beat the Bears 4-1 in the final day of the regular season.
Both Maine and Albany (9-9) had three shots on goal and five penalty corners. Maine goalie Rebecca Giroux made one save and Albany’s Ashley Ross had no saves.
Women’s soccer
Eastern Connecticut 2, USM 1
At Willimantic, Conn., Meghann Booth scored at 23:38 on assists from Carrie Fleischer and Jenn Orme to help lead Eastern Connecticut State University past University of Southern Maine in the Little East Conference Semifinals.
Orme scored an unassisted goal at 47:44 to give 11-5-2 Eastern Connecticut a 2-0 lead. Allison Sumecki made three saves on five shots.
Dianna Thibaudeau scored an unassisted goal at 89:06 for the Huskies, who end their season at 11-7-7. Mindy Morneault stopped seven of 14 shots.
Men’s basketball
EMCC 77, Unity 70
At Unity, Jason Bones scored a game-high 29 points, including seven 3-pointers, as the Golden Eagles slipped by the Rams at the Unity Tip-Off Invitational.
Jake Manner poured in 23 points, while Bruce Boyington added 13. Bones also pulled down 13 rebounds for EMCC.
Ben Giroux and Nathan Kelly paced Unity, scoring 13 points a piece. Matt Belonick tallied 10 assists.

At Machias, Eric Breland pumped in 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Capers past the Clippers.

Phil Munro paced UM-Machias with 14 points. Jeremiah Johnson scored 13 and Anthony McCoy 12.
