U.S. Customs agents seize 41 pounds of pot

LIMESTONE – U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Border Patrol agents assigned to the Fort Fairfield Border Patrol Station in Houlton Sector recently seized 41 pounds of hydroponically grown marijuana valued at more than $164,000.

The discovery occurred when Border Patrol agents encountered two people walking on a snowmobile trail leading from the border to Blake Road in Limestone.

Both subjects carrying large hockey bags ran away into Canada, with one dropping his bag while fleeing. Agents secured the bag and found it to contain 41 pounds of marijuana.

The contraband was turned over to the Immigration & Customs Enforcement agency.
