Wedding bells ring on new ‘Queer Eye’

Something old, something new, and they won’t let anyone forget the something borrowed or blue as “Queer Eye” starts a new season with wedding bells.

We’ve seen them clean up the boy next door a hundred times, but I was a bit skeptical that Bravo’s Fab Five could pull off perfect proposals and wedding bliss until I watched a preview of the first episode.

Joe Uva is every girl’s nightmare. Afraid of commitment and tied up in his own world of motorcycles and softball, it’s taken him 10 years to pop the question. He kept promising Laura he would “marry her soon,” but when he bought a Harley instead of a ring, she broke it off.

Joe’s heart is in the right place, and it’s obvious that he is madly in love, but it takes the “Queer Eye” cast to help him over the hurdle of making room in his life for Laura.

“If I don’t do this, part of me is gone,” Joe said.

In their not-so-gentle way of showing Joe his faults, the Fab Five make the point that little things can make a big difference and that Joe doesn’t have to give up his life for love.

On the path to proposal, viewers get to hear from Joe and Laura’s friends and family and will even witness what happens when Joe asks Laura’s father for her hand in marriage. How sweet!

If the rest of the season follows in the footsteps of the Dec. 6 premiere, this one will have all the women watching.

For those of you tracking the episode of “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” that was filmed in Maine and wondering when it will air – I have news.

To get those of you in the dark up to speed, the “Extreme Makeover” crew recently visited the Goodale family in Wells Harbor.

Doug Goodale, a veteran lobsterman, became tangled in machinery while out fishing one stormy day and the only way to free himself was to cut off his own arm.

Although he lost his arm, Goodale knew he still had a family to provide for and taught himself to fish with one arm. But medical bills overtook the family and their home was falling apart – until the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” team came in and took over.

The Maine episode is set to air at 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, on ABC.
