Brewer police stopped an assault in progress at a local motel Saturday night, after reporting to the scene for a noise complaint.
Officer David Lord and Sgt. Bill Birch responded to a call about a noise problem at around 9 Saturday night. The two officers reportedly were in the parking lot of the motel when they saw a male, Andrew Spence, 19, residence unknown, knock on the door of one of the rooms.
Lord said the door to the room flew open and Kelly Seeley, 26, of Brewer came out. Seeley allegedly shoved Spence quite forcefully, hard enough to bounce him off the hood of a nearby truck.
According to Lord, Seeley saw the officers’ police cruiser in the parking lot and ran back into her room. Lord said he pursued Seeley into the room and arrested her for assault.
Spence was arrested for violation of bail conditions. The terms of his bail, stemming from an ongoing conflict between him and Seeley, included stipulations that he was not to consume alcohol and was not to have any contact with Seeley, who is his sister. Lord said Spence was intoxicated. Both suspects were taken to Penobscot County Jail.
