A Hermon man claimed Monday that he blacked out before he assaulted his newlywed wife, although he was able to tell the law enforcement officer that he drop-kicked her, tackled her and choked her.
Aaron Jordan, 24, was charged with domestic assault for the incident that began Monday evening at a Cold Brook Road home during an argument he had with his wife. Jordan, who apparently has been married for only a few weeks, became upset that his wife had plans for a girls night out, according to the investigating deputy.
Jordan told Penobscot County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Adams that he blacked out after his wife walked away from the argument. He said that he can’t control himself when he blacks out, that this time he drop-kicked his wife, jumped on her and began choking her.
They fell to the floor where he reportedly kept choking her until she could get out from underneath him and, with a friend, drive away and call for help. Jordan provided Adams with a suspended license – which should have been turned in to the state. Jordan also was charged with possession of a suspended license. He was taken to Penobscot County Jail in Bangor.
A Hermon resident was in trouble with his landlord and later with local law enforcement for an unrelated matter.
A landlord had approached Penobscot County officials for assistance in looking at damage done to a property by a tenant. The tenant on the Newburgh Road was given a 24-hour notice of the visit.
On the way to the residence to keep the peace Monday afternoon, Penobscot County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Adams ran a records check on the resident, William Harris, 38, and learned that there were two warrants issued for his arrest.
The landlord didn’t know this, and Adams waited until the landlord performed the inspection and left before confronting Harris and arresting him. Harris was wanted for failing to appear in court for an assault charge and for a criminal mischief charge. He was taken to Penobscot County Jail.
