ORONO – The University of Maine announced its 2006 baseball schedule Tuesday, with the highlight being a three-game series with the University of Mississippi Feb. 24-26, as well as the traditional two-week trip to Florida.
After the Ole Miss series, the Florida trip kicks off against Seton Hall on March 5, the first of 13 games in the Sunshine State for the Black Bears. UMaine will play the likes of Pennsylvania, Columbia, Florida International, and St. Bonaventure.
The Bears then return to the Northeast for road games against Massachusetts, New York Institute of Technology, Maryland Eastern Shore, and Delaware State.
Maine opens America East play with a four-game set on April 7-9 at Maryland Baltimore County. The new America East series format for the coming season is a single nine-inning game on Friday and Sunday with a pair of seven-inning games on Saturday.
Maine’s first series at Mahaney Diamond will be April 13-15 against Stony Brook.
