Carrie L. Loranger has been promoted to the rank of major in the U.S. Air Force. Loranger has served in the military for 10 years and has been assigned to the 82nd Training Wing at Sheppard Air Force Base, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She is the daughter of Wesley and Ella Waltz of Millinocket and a graduate of Stearns High School and the University of Maine. Loranger earned her master’s degree from Oklahoma University at Oklahoma City.

Air Force Staff Sgt. Robert M. Coburn participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom at a forward-deployed operating location overseas. He is a utilities systems technician with 13 years of military service, assigned to the 101st Civil Engineer Squadron, Bangor Air National Guard.

Coburn is the son of Whitney and Linda Coburn of Brownville, and his wife, Wendy, is the daughter of John Lyford Sr. of Orneville. He is a 1981 graduate of Penquis Valley High School, Milo, and a 1983 graduate of Northern Maine Technical College, Presque Isle.
