ORONO – The America East-leading University of Albany Great Danes improved their overall record to 25-3 with a 3-0 match victory over Maine Friday night.

The Great Danes, who are 10-1 in America East play, were led by Ashlee Reed, who had 11 kills. Ashley Hunter, Shelby Goldman and Ashley Crenshaw each had nine kills. Ashley DeNeal had 13 digs and Blair Buchanan had 37 set assists.

Black Bears senior co-captain Kaili Jordan had 11 kills and three blocks. AE rookie of the week Amy Lawson had seven kills and two blocks. Shelly Seip had 27 assists.

Women’s basketball

Mt. Allison 76, UMFK 70 (OT)

At Fort Kent, University of Maine-Fort Kent’s Amanda Davis scored a game-high 22 points and teammate Nicole Corbin added 21, but it wasn’t enough to keep Mount Allison from pulling out an overtime victory in the first round of the Bengal Tip-Off Classic Friday.

Brittany Carter led the Mounties with 17 points, but Katie Green had 12 points and 16 rebounds.

Corbin also dished out five assists, as did teammate Traci Weatherhead.
