HAMPDEN – Devin McNeill of Portland scored with two minutes remaining in regulation to lift the West boys all-stars to a 3-2 victory over the East in the 11th annual Maine Soccer Coaches Senior Bowl soccer all-star game Sunday at the Weatherbee School complex.
The West earned a sweep of the two games as Kellie Lajoie of York scored a pair of goals to lead the West girls to a 5-3 victory over the East.
Jonah Lizotte of Greenville and Elliott Townsend of Freeport added goals for the West boys, while Ignacio Bustos of Class D state champion Bangor Christian and Steve Grudda of Lawrence of Fairfield scored for the East.
Brandon Lavigne of Greenville, Bryant Barr of Falmouth, Matt Williams of Cheverus of Portland and Scott Ogden of Monmouth Academy played in goal for the West. Cory Smith of Ellsworth, Billy Scull of Fort Fairfield, Matt Lint of Orono and Ryan Vermette of Mount Ararat of Topsham were the East goalies.
In the girls game, Kahla Lander of Greenville, Molly Hoyt of Georges Valley of Thomaston and Melissa Nguyen of Winthrop added goals for the West squad. Laura Martel of Lewiston scored twice for the East, while Courtney McLaughlin of Schenck of East Millinocket added one goal and Shelby Cousins of Caribou, Robin Rioux of George Stevens Academy of Blue Hill and Beth Gerard of Madawaska each contributed an assist.
Tending goal for the West were Beth Bartley of Greenville, Meaghan Mingo of Cheverus, Lauren Dupree of Massabesic of Waterboro and Emily Staszak of Class C state champion North Yarmouth Academy.
East goalies were Ashley Nemer of Ashland, Ilyse Angst of Bangor, Billie Martin of Caribou, Katye Mayo of Lawrence, Jackie Moors of Class D state champion Lee Academy, Rozalyn Petersen of Nokomis of Newport and Jenn Plourde of Penobscot Valley of Howland.
