WAYNE, N.J. – Ze Zhang scored his second touchdown of the game on a 7-yard run with 2:16 left in the fourth quarter to lift William Paterson to a 14-10 college football victory over Husson at Wrightman Stadium on Saturday.

Husson fell to 3-4 with the loss, while William Paterson improved to 5-5.

Husson had one last chance to rally after Zhang scored the go-ahead touchdown, but Tom Larsen intercepted a David Chase pass two plays after the subsequent kickoff.

Zhang scored on a 4-yard run in the second quarter to give William Paterson a 7-0 halftime lead.

Husson tied the game in the third quarter on a 9-yard pass from Chase to Jason Jack, then Darren Gauthier kicked a 22-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to give the Eagles their first lead.

Julius Williams led the Husson offense with 100 rushing yards on 23 carries, while Kyle Poissioner made five pass receptions for 95 yards.

Ross Salovitch paced the Eagles defense with 9.5 tackles, while Bobby Gilbert had 6.5 tackles and a fumble recovery and Jon Tefft added a pass interception.

Colby 28, Bowdoin 3

At Whittier Field in Brunswick, Aaron Stepka and Chris Bashaw combined for 217 rushing yards as the visiting Mules clinched their third straight CBB title.

Stepka, the leading rusher in the New England Small College Athletic Conference, rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries, while Bashaw added 100 yards on 15 tries.

The Mules finished with 261 rushing yards, compared to just 43 for Bowdoin.

Colby finishes the season with a 7-1 record, good for second place behind undefeated Trinity in the NESCAC standings. Bowdoin finishes 6-2, the most wins in a season for the Polar Bears since 1970.

Colby spotted Bowdoin a 3-0 lead before scoring 28 unanswered points. Justin Smith hit Rob Jacobs with a 2-yard TD pass to give the Mules a 7-0 second-quarter lead.

Stepka scored from 13 yards out in the third quarter before Smith passed to Matt Peabody for an 11-yard scoring play and backup quarterback John Bateman hit tight end Roddy Ames with a 16-yard scoring strike.

Bowdoin quarterback Ricky Leclerc completed 25 of 48 passes for 237 yards, with Doug Johnson making 11 catches for 123 yards.

Bates 34, Hamilton 20

At Clinton, N.Y., Jamie Walker and Shawki White combined to rush for 262 yards and four touchdowns to lead visiting Bates to its second win of the season.

Walker rushed for 131 yards on 27 carries and rushed for two first-half touchdowns to give the Bobcats a20-13 lead at the break.

White ran for 131 yards on 22 tries and scored twice in the second half.

Dave Bodger paced the Bates defense with nine tackles.
