The city council endorsed a measure in support of members of the National Guard and Reserves, and is sending the message to all 400 or so Brewer businesses, Assistant City Manager Howard Kroll said Tuesday. The measure asks that employers pledge that employment not be denied because of service to the National Guard or Reserves, that career opportunities not be limited because of service, and that employees be given leave to serve, without sacrifice of vacation. “It is the law, but it’s giving reassurance” to those who serve, said Kroll, an Navy Reservist.
