A public insurance adjuster retained by the town informed selectmen recently that the town’s insurance carrier has offered $191,000 to settle the claim from the fire that destroyed the recycling and storage buildings at the town’s solid waste facility. In a letter dated Nov. 10 provided Monday to selectmen, Bryan Holtzman of Swerling Milton Winnick Public Insurance Adjusters Inc. wrote that his company had set the replacement cost of the destroyed buildings at $252,000. He said his company would continue to negotiate with the town’s carrier until a fair and reasonable settlement could be obtained. (Diana Bowley, BDN)
