MacLaughlin’s gets 4th straight crown

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia – Coca-Cola Division winner Maine Heat of Bangor-Brewer Bowling Lanes was knocked out of the playoffs by MacLaughlin’s Truck and Trailer of Halifax 1973-1844 Saturday in the World Team Candlepin Bowling Championships at Halifax Fairlanes.

MacLaughlin’s Truck and Trailer went on to defeat Moncton Storm of Moncton, New Brunswick, 1970-1870 in the final to claim its fourth consecutive title.

Tony LeBlanc of Moncton Storm had the highest average of the tournament with a 137.44. Shawn Morrison of Maine Heat posted the third best average with an 134.61. Three other Maine Heat players placed in the top 12: Tim Matero 133.72, Nate Nealey 133.63, and Chris Sargent 129.93.

For the win, MacLaughlin’s received $10,000, while the Moncton Storm had to settle for $5,000.

The event will rotate back to Brewer for the 2006 championship to be held Nov. 15-19.
