ELLSWORTH – A 36-year-old Ellsworth woman was in fair condition at a Bangor hospital after her car crashed into a tree on Route 180 Sunday evening.

Police said Angela Shaw was driving north on the road, also known as the Mariaville Road, after 5 p.m. when she drifted into the ditch, overcorrected and lost control of her car.

The vehicle veered across the road and hit a tree. Shaw had to be extricated from her car, which was destroyed in the crash, police said.

She complained of leg and back pain and was taken by ambulance to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital before being transferred to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Police issued Shaw a summons for operating a motor vehicle while her driver’s license was suspended.
